A brand new basketball match that may function contributors from the 4 main HBCU conferences is coming in 2025.
The inaugural Black Faculty Invitational Championship will likely be performed on the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina, from March 20-23, 2025.
About 16 Division I and Division II males’s and girls’s groups from the MEAC, SWAC, SIAC and CIAA will compete to be topped the HBCU champion.
“This may occasionally sound bizarre to a few of you, however I had a dream in November,” Wes Bellamy, creator of the BCIC, instructed The Charlotte Observer. “And I might see it, as clear as day: Us having this basketball match right here in Charlotte. Bellamy stated faculties that win their convention championships will qualify for the match.
Groups that win the convention championships from the SWAC, MEAC, CIAA, and SIAC will likely be chosen to take part within the match.
An HBCU basketball match has not been held in Charlotte because the CIAA match left the town for Baltimore after the 2019-20 season.
The BCIC, which goals to shine a highlight on HBCU faculties and native Black-owned companies, may even embrace highschool schooling days and new sponsorship alternatives.
Championship video games between the CIAA and SIAC are set for Saturday, March 22, and the boys’s and girls’s groups from the MEAC and SWAC are scheduled to satisfy of their finals on Sunday, March 23.
