On Thursday, the American Jewish Committee condemned the marketing campaign, calling it “unacceptable” and demanding Adidas tackle the difficulty. “On the 1972 Olympic Video games in Munich, 12 Israelis had been murdered and brought hostage by the Palestinian terrorist group Black September,” they wrote on X (previously often known as Twitter). “For Adidas to choose a vocal anti-Israel mannequin to recall this darkish Olympics is both a large oversight or deliberately inflammatory. Neither is suitable.”

Adidas responded with a press release, confirming they might revise the marketing campaign. “We’re acutely aware that connections have been made to tragic historic occasions — although these are fully unintentional — and we apologize for any upset or misery precipitated,” Adidas mentioned. “Because of this, we’re revising the rest of the marketing campaign. We imagine in sport as a unifying pressure around the globe and can proceed our efforts to champion range and equality in every thing we do.”
