Amandla Stenberg releases song in response to ‘intolerable racism’

Amandla Stenberg is addressing racist trolls in a brand new track. 

The actress, who’s presently starring within the “Star Wars” sequence, “The Acolyte,” launched a track titled “Discourse,” which addresses the “insupportable racism” she has skilled. The 25-year-old premiered the track on her Instagram Wednesday in commemoration of Juneteenth. 

“Joyful Juneteenth and to those that are flooding me with insupportable racism — because it took me 72 hours on my laptop computer to make this track and video, u bought 72 hours to reply. and I count on choreo!!” she wrote alongside a music video of the track. 

Within the video, Stenberg is proven in a black bandeau crop high and jean shorts together with her pure afro out in all its glory. The digital camera zooms in on her earlier than she begins dancing and singing. 

“Discourse” begins with a reference to a 2018 interview with Trevor Noah during which Stenberg stated “white folks crying really was the objective” of “The Hate U Give,” a movie she starred in that follows the police killing of a Black baby.

She goes on to sing about Infantile Gambino’s lyric “keep woke” within the 2016 track “Redbone,” singing that the phrase was “all in regards to the folks recognizing bigotry.”  

“The ability of neighborhood,” Stenberg croons, “not fodder on your clickbait.”
