The annual Celebration Bowl, now in its tenth yr, will formally kick off bowl season once more.
The HBCU nationwide championship sport between MEAC and SWAC champions will likely be performed at midday EST on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on ABC, in response to ESPN.
The occasion will headline 17 bowl video games to be televised on the ESPN household of networks by way of Jan. 2.
Earlier than final season’s Celebration Bowl, the date was moved from the third Saturday to the second weekend.
Although SWAC Commissioner Charles McClelland believed the change created an obstacle for the convention champion, it was a transfer known as “a game-changer” by Celebration Bowl government director John T. Grant.
“By aligning with the beginning of the faculty soccer bowl season and avoiding the growth video games of the faculty soccer playoffs and NFL, the Celebration Bowl has carved its personal area of interest within the bowl season calendar.”
