Dreamville Day 2: Tems and Erykah Badu Shine as J. Cole Waves “Farewell” to the Festival

After a sun-drenched opening day, Day Two of Dreamville Fest arrived with a welcome breeze that appeared to shift the whole ambiance—cooler air, acquainted routes and a crowd now totally in rhythm with the grounds of Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. Tems graced the Shine Stage with a soulful efficiency, opening with a jazz-infused rendition of “Loopy Tings.” Her set included fascinating performances of “Wickedest” and “Love Me JeJe,” with background dancers whose actions have been as fluid and expressive because the music itself.

The Dreamville Basis’s sales space, operated by Two Six Challenge founder Grant Bennett, highlighted the competition’s dedication to group empowerment. Bennett, who first related with J.
