As the price of doing enterprise in school athletics grows, one HBCU has been compelled to make a troublesome determination about an athletic program.
Prairie View A&M introduced Monday afternoon that the college will lower males’s and girls’s tennis instantly as part of “a broader strategic realignment inside the athletic division.
This determination follows a complete analysis of the college’s athletic portfolio and is rooted in a dedication to long-term operational excellence, fiscal sustainability, and student-centered planning.”
PVAMU mentioned that “The evolving panorama of collegiate athletics—together with rising prices, facility calls for, and the necessity for programmatic focus—necessitated powerful choices. This step permits the college to prioritize funding in core applications that serve the most important variety of student-athletes and align with PVAMU’s long-term strategic targets.”
The college mentioned tennis scholarships could be honored if tennis athletes selected to remain on campus. In the event that they select to enter the portal, PVAMU pledged their full help with documentation, advisement and counseling.
