With a month remaining earlier than the beginning of the 2025 HBCU soccer season, Edward Waters head coach Toriano Morgan resigned.
Based on a report from Soccer Scoop, Morgan is stepping away from the crew for private causes and intends to return to teaching quickly.
The event comes only a day after Morgan and members Edward Waters soccer crew appeared at SIAC Media Day on Tuesday.
Edward Waters has introduced that former Bethune-Cookman and Alabama State head coach Brian Jenkins Sr. will function the interim head coach for the 2025 season.
“We’re assured in Coach Jenkins’ capacity to steer our program with integrity, self-discipline, and imaginative and prescient,” stated Edward Waters Deputy Athletic Director Ashley Conner. “He has earned the belief of our student-athletes and employees, and we’re excited in regards to the management he brings into this transitional chapter for Edward Waters soccer.”
Coach Morgan was employed by Edward Waters in 2021 forward of their first season within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Convention (SIAC).
In his 4 seasons as head coach of the Tigers, the Tennessee State alum posted an 18-24 total document, together with a 15-18 document towards the SIAC.
His greatest season got here in 2023, when he led the crew to a 6-4 total document, marking the college’s greatest single-season efficiency in almost 20 years.
