HBCU softball champions will start the NCAA tournament against Power 4 opponents

Two HBCU conferences topped their softball champions this weekend, and Sunday night, each groups came upon the place they are going to be heading within the nationwide event.

MEAC champion Howard and SWAC champion Jackson State each earned automated bids to the NCAA Division I softball event, which begins on Friday, Might 16.

The Bison, who made up for his or her solely regular-season MEAC loss with a 6-1 win over South Carolina State Saturday, would be the No. 4 seed within the Durham regional, hosted by No. 14 general seed Duke. Duke will function the highest seed for the regional and face Howard on Friday. The second matchup will probably be Georgia and Coastal Carolina.

The Tigers, who clinched their second straight SWAC title with a 3-1 win over Florida A&M Sunday morning, would be the 4th seed within the Tuscaloosa Regional, hosted by No. 15 general seed Alabama. JSU will face Alabama, whereas Virginia Tech and Belmont will face off within the different regional sport.

The regionals are double elimination, with every workforce assured not less than two video games. The winner then strikes on the spherical of 16, referred to as the Tremendous Regionals.
