The star-studded night, based by media maven Jason Lee, was hosted by comic and actress Tiffany Haddish and featured a dynamic mix of speeches, performances, and highly effective moments of recognition.
This 12 months’s honorees included Don Lemon, Fantasia, Keke Palmer, Lemuel Plummer, Niecy Nash Betts, Vic Mensa, and Warren G—every celebrated for his or her distinctive contributions to tradition, media, leisure, and social progress.
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett introduced the Social Influence Award to Don Lemon, whereas gospel legend Yolanda Adams honored Fantasia with the Inspiration Award. Keke Palmer acquired the Spirit Award from Meagan Good, and actuality TV powerhouses Nene Leakes and Phaedra Parks awarded Lemuel Plummer, founding father of The Zeus Community, with the Innovator Award.
