A Howard College alum, lengthy revered in sports activities journalism circles, is shifting on this summer time.
Stan Verrett, who hosted the Los Angeles version of ESPN’s flagship present SportsCenter, is not going to have his contract renewed when it expires in June, based on a report from Entrance Workplace Sports activities.
“We’re grateful for Stan’s many contributions and all he has delivered to SportsCenter over time,” ESPN government vp and government Dave Roberts mentioned in an announcement. “We thank him and want him continued success.”
A local of New Orleans, Louisiana, Verrett arrived at ESPN from his hometown station WDSU-TV in 2000. He initially hosted the 1:30 a.m. version of SportsCenter, then moved out west with co-host Neil Everett to launch the Los Angeles present in 2009.
Everett retired in 2023, and Verrett, with fellow longtime ESPN anchor Linda Cohn, continued to host the LA SportsCenter, which had its closing episode Monday, Could 19.
