As school athletics turns into a bigger enterprise, the 4 HBCU conferences with membership within the NCAA have written a letter in assist of potential laws to tighten issues up.
In keeping with a report by Yahoo Sports activities and On3 Sports activities’ Ross Dellenger, the HBCU 4 – Sonja Stills of the MEAC, Jacqie McWilliams Parker of the CIAA, Anthony Holloman of the SIAC and Charles McClelland of the SWAC – wrote a letter to the Congressional Black Caucus expressing assist for the SCORE (Pupil Compensation and Alternative via Rights and Endorsements) Act.

The SCORE Act, launched in July, was created to “shield the identify, picture, and likeness rights of scholars athletes to advertise truthful compensation with respect to intercollegiate athletics, and for different functions.”
“Because the panorama of school athletics continues to evolve, now could be the time to determine a nationwide framework of core rules and practices that may assist standardize the intercollegiate experiences for establishments and scholar athletes alike,” the letter reads, including that the SCORE Act addresses the commissioners’ high priorities.
Earlier this summer time, the 4 NCAA leagues introduced HBCU4US, an initiative designed to guard the athletic applications and standing of their member establishments.
