Norfolk State men and women both earn top seeds for MEAC basketball tournament

When the Mid-Japanese Athletic Convention basketball match begins subsequent week, the host Norfolk State Spartans may have a determined home-court benefit as each males’s and girls’s basketball groups earned the No. 1 seed of their respective brackets.

The Spartan girls completed MEAC play 13-1, their greatest mark since becoming a member of the league over 25 years in the past, and can start their quest for a second straight MEAC match title in opposition to No. 8 South Carolina State at midday.

Howard (10-4), North Carolina Central (9-5) and Coppin State (8-6) spherical out the highest 4 seeds. Coppin State gained a tiebreaker with Maryland-Japanese Shore (additionally 8-6) for the fourth seed, whereas Delaware State (4-10), Morgan State (3-11), and South Carolina State (2-12) spherical out the ladies’s seedings.

The Norfolk State males look to regain the match title they misplaced to Howard 69-65 final season. The Spartans completed MEAC play with an 11-3 document (20-10 general) and can face No. 8 Coppin State. North Carolina Central (9-5) gained a multi-team tiebreaker in opposition to South Carolina State and Howard for the No. 2 seed. The Eagles will face No. 7 Coppin State.

Stunning South Carolina State earned the No. 3 seed and can sq. off in opposition to No. 6 Delaware State whereas defending match champion Howard secures the No. 4 seed and a first-round match-up with No. 5 Morgan State.

The MEAC match begins Wednesday, Mar. 13, on the Scope in Norfolk.
