Livingstone College, situated in Salisbury, North Carolina, was based in 1879 by Dr. Joseph Charles Worth and the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Initially named Zion Wesley Institute, the establishment was established to coach newly freed African People and promote their religious, tutorial, and social improvement. Renamed Livingstone Faculty in honor of the famed explorer and missionary Dr. David Livingstone, the college’s mission is to offer a liberal arts training grounded in Christian rules.
