The defending SWAC Western Division champions added some extra depth to their offensive core this weekend, as Prairie View A&M acquired a dedication from former Connecticut huge receiver James Burns.

Burns, a 5-foot-8, 160-pound senior switch from Charlotte, North Carolina, entered the portal within the fall of 2023 after transferring to UConn from Austin Peay. In 2022, he caught 37 passes for 424 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Governors. He noticed motion in seven video games for the Huskies in 2023, catching two passes for 21 yards.
Burns was a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com out of Rocky River Excessive College and began his faculty profession at Miami, Ohio.
